Toronto, Ontario - GreenHeroes is a cross platform project that includes a TV show airing on TVO and SUN TV, a website, user generated content contest and a blog. The GreenHeroes tag line is "Saving the planet one story at a time", and it has launched with 10 video episodes that feature various Green Heroes. These are people that are making a difference through their actions to raise awareness for various green causes.

Featured on the site is Tragically Hip front man Gord Downie who worked with the Waterkeeper organization to raise awareness for clean water in the Great Lakes and Great Lake basin. Leilani Munter is Carbon Free Girl, a professional racecar driver with NASCAR and environmental activist. Leilani has been adopting an acre of rainforest for every race she runs and is a long time vegetarian and eco activist. Green Heroes is also looking to find people who are making a difference through a contest where you can nominate a GreenHero or nominate yourself. The producers of GreenHeroes will feature you on a TV show. The site aims to follow all GreenHeroes and feature their achievements in an effort to bring attention to green causes.

The GreenHeroes website makes extensive use of the Filemobile platform. The site is a combination of a Media Community and a UGC Contest. The community is used to profile the video episodes in high quality video. The site also features a blog application and all of it is tied together through the community so all site members have profiles that feature all of their activities on the site. The site is easy to use with Facebook Connect registration. Users can access the website on the web, an iPhone or iPad (using HTML5).

GreenHeroes is a product by Toronto based production company CineFocus Canada and is a Bell Fund and Canada Media Fund project.
